Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP)

Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP) Classes in Georgia

The FVIP classes at AACS Atlanta support personal, emotional, and psychological development in the areas of anger, violence, and maladaptive reactions. Most adults were never taught how to respond to difficult situations, feelings, and emotions in a healthy way. These classes give you the opportunity to learn those responses quickly so you can communicate with your loved ones in a loving and healthy manner.

AACS Atlanta offers a 24-week court-approved FVIP class in many cities across Georgia and virtually.

What You'll Learn in FVIP Classes

The goal of FVIP classes is not to eliminate anger and violence, which is neither realistic nor possible. The goal is to learn how to cope with anger and express it in a healthy way.

In FVIP classes, participants explore the difference between anger, hostility, aggression, and violence, so they can accurately define and express what they’re experiencing. The curriculum addresses how anger affects the body, behavior, and mind, and how it can escalate into violence when left unaddressed.

Classes include case studies and scenarios that reflect real, anger-inducing situations, creating space for honest group dialogue around healthy and appropriate responses. Participants are also guided to objectively question their initial reactions and reframe them from a healthier perspective, reducing emotional intensity and restoring self-control.

Who Attends These Classes

FVIP classes are separated and conducted with gender-specific peers to help participants work through behavioral change. Each class incorporates cognitive-behavioral interventions, role play, and honest discussions about behavior and perception.

Positive changes can occur in families willing to do the work to restore their happiness.

Children Are Victims of Family Violence

Family violence doesn’t only affect the adults involved. Children who witness or experience family violence are victims too. FVIP classes are designed with this in mind, helping participants recognize the full impact of their behavior on everyone in the household and build the awareness needed to create a safer, healthier home environment.
